Blaufränkisch from the 2015 vintage

The Königsberg has a special position in Southern Burgenland. It consists of dolomitic lime – similar to the eastern Alps – and is a clear southern exposure. Uwe Schiefer, who is making an international sensation with his slate-embossed wines from the Eisenberg, has always been fascinated by the terroir of the Königsberg: ” The limestone soil produces a very precise, very close meshed expression at the Blaufränkisch. The difference to the slate floor of Eisenberg is blatant “says the Blaufränkisch expert.

Schiefer has expanded the 2015 vintage for Domaines Kilger. The dry year resulted in particularly small yields. Only about 1800 liters could be harvested per hectare. Accordingly concentrated and complex is the wine, matured by Schiefer in 30 hl barrels of native oak for about 20 months. At the beginning of July, the Blaufränkisch Ried Königsberg was bottled and is now available in 0.75 l bottles and in Magnums.
